Ancient Dildos & Art

Édouard-Henri Avril's lithograph from De Figuris Veneris (1906) of two women using a strap-on dildo. De Figuris Veneris, an anthology of ancient Greek and Roman writings on erotic topics, included a list of 95 sexual positions. You can get some interesting returns if you plug "De Figuris Veneris" into a Google Image search. I did not expect to find, however, that De Figuris Veneris has its own Facebook page, though I suppose I should not be surprised.

The dildo believed to be the oldest one known to man is estimated at 28,000 year old. Dildos used to be made of stone, wood and tar.  Now we've got silicone rubber and Cyberskin. We've come a long way, baby.
