Expanding Your Fantasy...1950 or 2011? Which Country?

"i haven't really read all this thread..just a few of the posts...
i think the best way to find a man in SL is to not look for them..and when they find you and IM you act as innocent as you can..
let some things go over your head..especially if it is them trying to flirt early on...
do a few subject changes from the flirts like you never caught onto it..
let a few of them hit and respond with little giggles here and there..
basically just treat them like any other person IMing..and that sex and romance is the farthest thing from your mind..
it seems to work really well for me..because i don't really look for men in sl and i have a hard time figuring out when they are flirting with me..i talk alot about lots of things so i may change the subject 5 times before i am finished explaining something hehehehe(see that giggle i slid in there?) hehehe( whoops did it again hehehe) (Ceka stop giggling and finish)Aaaanyways..i giggle a lot and i basically treat everyone about the same..
sex and romance is really something that is the farthest thing from my mind..
i always giggle when i catch onto a flirt..
oh and always talk about interesting things..like the weather..they really like that a lot :smileytongue: "

  1. As much as it makes me twitch, this really ^^^ is a great technique for separating people by their interests.

I don't want to be with the man who would find this technique effective and engaging. She would, apparently. Win-win!

  2. I have been chasing *that* girl for almost two years! She is fast, and I mean really fast - I can't catch up to her.

  3. Throw one of your lines at her.

    - I wish I was your derivative so I could lie tangent to your curves.
    - If I was an enzyme, I'd be helicase so I could unzip your genes.
    - You overclock my processor.
    - You have nicer legs than an Isosceles right triangle.
    - You're so cute you make my zygomaticus muscles contract.
    - You know.. it's not the length of the vector that counts ... it's how you apply the force
    - You're so gneiss I'll never take you for granite.

    That'll slow her down.

  4. This reminds me of a convo I once had with Lee about filters...we have all got them...we all use them.
Some overtly...some covertly. Some use their inworld profiles to give accurate indications of their proclivities.

Ceka's giggling shtick would def filter me out....and good for her...she prolly wouldn't like me.

Good for me too....schoolgirl giggling about the weather...is about as de-tumescent as it gets..so we have both avoided an unpleasant waste of time.

I find it interesting though...how we use and apply these filters...when one is new in a virtual world...they tend to be broad and lacking in definition...as our hunger for new experiences dictates the flow of the game.

As one learns that not every new experience is a good experience...one tends to refine these filters.
Writing about it can sound like an exercise in transactional analysis...where one can can closely monitor debits and credits.

But for me the experience is more akin to Jazz...a free-flowing riffing....ensemble and solo flow together seamlessly. Well...lol...that is the good encounters anyway. They dont always go down this way.

But the ability to improvise, definitely plays a part in this...which means being open to hints...subtle cues...the shape the encounter wants to aim towards.
Flowing between directing this shape...and somewhat surrendering to it.

That Sl takes away some of the obvious cues, present in RL...represents the challenge....and ultimately the fulfillment when it works out right.

As I have mentioned previously to Lee...I can sit in a place like Lars...and read 50 profiles without contacting anyone...so hunger and need must still operate within filters.

I would also add...that these filters are not written in stone...and are amenable to change.
What you desire 1 week/month/year...may not what be what you desire on another occasion
